Sanjay Manjrekar, a former hitter for the Indian National Cricket Team who played for Mumbai in domestic cricket, has come up with a deft rejoinder to Murali Vijay’s jab at him.Vijay, who is from Madras in Tamil Nadu, criticised cricketer-turned-commentator Manjrekar on Twitter on Friday, February 10, for not recognising the players from South India.
On Day 2 of the upcoming India vs. Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series opening match, which is taking place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur, Vijay sent a tweet criticising Manjrekar.
The host broadcaster Star Sports showed a statistic regarding the hitters’ greatest conversion rate from 50s to 100s in Test cricket on Indian soil during the play on Day 2. The statistic related to batsmen who had at least 10 home Test cricket 50+ scoring performances.
With 15 scores of 50 or above and nine of them turned into centuries, Vijay was in first place with a conversion rate of 60%.Sanjay Manjrekar, on the other hand, was taken aback to find Vijay at the top of the list. Murali Vijay being at the top of the list shocked him, he added.
