
The three-match T20 series between Bangladesh and England, which will be contested later this month, has been confirmed. Three uncapped players have been called up to the team for the series. Following their outstanding performances in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League, batsman Towhid Hridoy, pacer Rejaur Rahman Raja, and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam are the three players chosen in the squad (BPL).
Together with them, BPL performers Shamim Hossain and Rony Talukdar have also been invited back to the team. Having last played for Bangladesh in November 2021, Hossain makes a comeback. Rony’s sole T20 match took place in 2015 against South Africa.
Yasir Ali, Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain, Ebadot Hossain, and Shoriful Islam, all of whom are pacers, havebeing left out of the squad. Significantly, they were all a part of the Bangladeshi team that travelled to Australia in November of last year for the Twenty20 World Cup.
On March 9, the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium will host the opening game of the T20 series. At Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, the second and third games will take place on March 12 and 14, respectively.
The bilateral T20 series between Bangladesh and England will be their first ever.
Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Liton Das, Najmul Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed, Nurul Hasan, Shamim Hossain, Rony Talukdar, Towhid Hridoy, Rejaur Rahman Raja, and Tanvir Islam make up Bangladesh’s T20I team against England.
1st ODI victory by England by 3wickets
Speaking of the ODI series, England won the first game by defeating Bangladesh by a score of three wickets on March 1 at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The victory gave the visitors a 1-0 series lead after three games. On March 3, the second One-Day International will be held at the same venue.
Bangladesh chose to bat first winning the toss. Only Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal were able to spend a lot of time in the middle, but top-order batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto managed to reach a solid fifty. Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam, the hosts’ tailenders, hit 14 and 10 runs, respectively, to help the team reach the 200-run milestone. Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, Mark Wood, and Jofra Archer each claimed two wickets.
England was granted aWhile attempting to reach the target of 210 runs, England also got off to a rough start, regularly losing wickets. Only David Malan set up camp on one end to maintain the runs. With 3 wickets and 8 balls left, Malan delivered one of his best ODI efforts to get England across the finish line. 8 fours and 4 sixes made up the 114* run innings by Malan. Taijul Islam grabbed three wickets for Bangladesh.
The Jos Buttler-led team scored 212 for 7 after Dawid Malan 114, playing the finest ODI of his career, played an outstanding innings. The hosts were held to 209 with eight balls left by England.
