The Board of Control for Cricket in India cracked the whip on Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan on 28 February. Because both players were not awarded central contracts for the 2023–24 season.
The BCCI has been clear for some time that they do not want to approach the Center to place the Indian Premier League (IPL) above domestic cricket, especially the premier domestic competition Ranji Trophy.
This concern arose due to the ignoring of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. Why did the board decide to keep Pandya in the contract list? It is understood. That the star all-rounder has told BCCI for a long time. That his body was not able to withstand the demands of red-ball cricket. That’s why they were not thrown out.
