Beth Mooney Receives a Send-Off from Shafali Verma, Who Displays Excessive Anger. Watch

Shafali Verma, one of the biggest names in Indian women’s cricket, temporarily lost her composure during Thursday’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 match against Australia. Beth Mooney was successfully caught by Shafali, who was fielding at backward point and had already scored fifty goals. There is no disputing the significance of the wicket, but Shafali’s celebration seemed a bit excessive. The young starter was heard saying a few words as she bid Mooney farewell.

It should be recalled that Lanning survived a stumping attempt from late replacement Sneh Rana when she had made nine while Mooney was dismissed by Shafali Verma at long-on with 34. Shafali, on the other hand, didn’t err the second time. Here is a clip of her response: #Twitter

Shafali, who had just led India to victory in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, had hoped that Mooney’s disqualification would alter the outcome of the match in India’s favour, but that didn’t happen.

After to a few outstanding batsmanship displays and fielding mistakes by Indian players, Australia continued their onslaught and eventually scored 172 runs.

India could only respond with 167 runs, falling short by 5 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues’ efforts merited praise, but other Indian batters were unable to contribute significantly with runs.

As for the game, India’s thrilling run chase came painfully short at Newlands on Thursday, sending Australia into their sixth consecutive Women’s T20 World Cup final.

India’s final score of 167 for eight as compared to Australia’s 172 for four gave Australia a five-run victory.

In the final on Sunday, Australia will either take against England or South Africa.
