Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s best Test player, will be participating in his 100th Test for his nation in the second Test between India and Australia, which starts on Friday, February 17.
The Test specialist made history by becoming just the 13th Indian player to play in 100 Tests, which is a major accomplishment. In tests, Pujara has performed at his best. The veteran batsman has played in 99 Test matches and amassed 7021 runs, including 19 hundreds and 34 half-centuries, with a top Test performance of 206*.
In advance of the Delhi Test, the BCCI released a video of the Indian team players wishing the 35-year-old well. The veteran player received congratulations for reaching the milestone from Indian captain Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli, head coach Rahul Dravid, and many other individuals.
“Let me start by congratulating Pujara on taking part in the country’s 100th Test match. Not many individuals go on to accomplish what you have done for your country, which is a significant accomplishment, Rohit stated in the video.
“Pujji, I first encountered you or played against you in a Ranji Trophy match in which you outscored Karnataka and won. I believe that has turned into a reoccurring theme. But it’s been fun to see how you’ve changed over the past ten years,” Dravid added.
“For a very special individual, today is a very special day. Congratulations on passing your 100th test, Pujji. “You’ve played in 100 Tests, which is an impressive feat considering how long you’ve played for India. It’s a big event not just for you but for your family and the people who have supported you throughout your journey,” added Kohli.
Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav had a humorous exchange while highlighting the fact that Pujara was about to play his 100th Test in the video. This is what they said to one other:
Ishan, do you understand why we are in front of the camera? Suryakumar
Pujji Bhai is playing in his 100th Test, Ishan.
Suryakumar: Again, please?
Pujji Bhai is playing in his 100th Test, Ishan!
Moreover, Jaydev Unadkat and Axar Patel could be seen having a funny discussion about Pujara’s abilities while playing Play Station, making jokes about the experienced player’s inability to amass as many points on the platform as he does with the bat in Test matches.
