Ex-BCCI Selector’s Epic “Rolls-Royce” Comment in the KL Rahul Saga

Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former top selector for Team India, has advised the team’s management to start youthful opener Shubman Gill rather than the batter who isn’t playing, KL Rahul. At the present Border Gavaskar Cup, Team India secured an unbeatable 2-0 victory, but Rahul’s performance has been a huge worry for Rohit Sharma’s group. Rahul is no longer the team’s vice-captain, but he has managed to save his spot in the squad for the third and fourth Tests against Australia. But, the player’s captain Rohit and head coach Rahul Dravid have supported him.

According to Srikkanth, if he had been the head selector, he would have urged Rahul to take a vacation from competing.

I even refer to Rahul as Rolls Royce Rahul because of his impeccable class, but right now, things are just not working out for him. Srikkanth told TOI that if he had been the chairman of the selectors, he would have approached the man and advised him to take a vacation.

Commenting further about Rahul’s difficulties, Srikkanth remarked that rather than a mechanical failing in his play, it is more of a mental problem.

“For now, I’m unable to see a technical flaw in his performance. Rahul only needs to take a break and clear his head because in my opinion this is more of a mental issue. There is no reason he can’t return with all of his guns blazing. But it’s time to play Shubman, with all due respect to Rahul. When a player is in the best shape of his life, you cannot keep him waiting “Srikanth continued.
