Ahead of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), teenage player Prithvi Shaw was seen working out indoors while sporting a Delhi Caps jersey. But as soon as the video went viral, a lot of fans began to doubt his fitness, which has been a topic of debate for a while. The young player has received a lot of criticism recently for the same reason, with many advising him to drop a few pounds in order to resume his place in the international cricket hierarchy.
Shaw notably participated in his final international match in 2021. After being removed from the Test team at first, he was eventually withdrawn from consideration for any kind of game. His reputation was also damaged by some off-field scandal, and he had very mediocre performance in the league with huge salaries. Though there were discussions about Delhi releasing him before the 2024 Indian Premier League, the team decided to cling onto him. But if he doesn’t meet the high standards in the next season, the first one might be issued before the 2025 version.
Shaw was observed in the training area honing his defensive strategies. He had sustained a knee injury while playing for the Northants, which kept him out of the game for a spell. Before suffering the injury, he was having a great time in the One-Day Cup, hitting 244 runs and 125*. Regarding his return to domestic cricket, there is currently no information available. He missed the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the event that he is not selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, which will play from June 3 to June 7, shortly after the massive competition in India, the objective would be for him to perform well in the next IPL season and regain his position in the standings. Shaw’s attacking style of cricket is much sought after by the national side at the top of the order, so there’s always hope if he can establish himself. But right now, the Indian team is a long way off in the distance. This is a video of Shaw during practice, along with the supporters’ responses:

There was a time when he was supped to be the next big thing in Indian cricket hope he finds his mojo back and not go down as one of the players who could have been.
Need to shed those extra kilos at NCA.
