One of the five franchises playing in the first Women’s IPL in 2023 will be Delhi. The Delhi franchise purchased two Indian hitters, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma. Both athletes are presently competing in South Africa’s Women’s T20 World Cup.
Former cricket players Lisa Keightley of Australia and Hemlata Kala of India will split the role of assistant coach. Biju George has been named as the men’s fielding coach for the Delhi Capitals in the interim. One of George’s past customers was the Indian women’s cricket squad.
Delhi’s Women’s Premier League squad is owned by JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited, a joint venture between GMR Group and JSW Sports. The company spent Rs. 810 crore to get the auction rights (USD 99.35 million approx). The franchise spent a total of 11.65 crore in the auction.
There will be 409 female athletes available for bid in the Women’s Premier League Auction in 2023. (WPL auction 2023). Earlier, 1525 people registered for the auction. Just 409 of those players were included in the final lineup.
Out of a total of 409 players, there are 246 Indian players and 163 international players. There are eight players from associate nations. There were 207 players without caps and 202 players with caps in the WPL auction 2023.
The 2023 WPL regular season will run from March 4 through March 26. Delhi Capitals will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore in their season opener on March 5 at Brabourbe. To finish the league stage, UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals will meet on March 21 at the Brabourne Stadium. The Elimination will be held at DY Patil Stadium on March 24. Last but not least, the WPL 2023 championship game will take place on March 26 at Brabourne Stadium. There will be a total of 11 games played at each of
