Hazlewood out of Indore and Ahmedabad Tests due to injury

Due to his left Achilles injury, Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will be out for the duration of the Border-Gavaskar Test series. Hazlewood, who missed the tests in Nagpur and Delhi, will now resume his recovery programme in Sydney, according to head coach Andrew McDonald. For his comeback Test against South Africa in Sydney, the 32-year-old fast bowler, who has struggled with side strains for the past two seasons, strained his Achilles while running on the wet portions of the SCG outfield.

McDonald was positive that Hazlewood wouldn’t be available for the rest of the season, but he wasn’t so sure about David Warner. In the Delhi Test, the explosive opener was struck in the elbow and forced to leave the match due to a concussion.

A day after Australia lost the series 0-2 to England, McDonald declared on Monday, “Josh Hazlewood out, he’ll be going home.” ” Warner is still hurting right now. Before discussing this, we had a meeting. We’re not in a haste to decide anything right now with Davey. Just see how that settles and how useful it is.

The decision we make regarding him will primarily depend on how sore and functional he is, as well as the severity of the damage. According to some speculation, the extent of the damage could range from a week and beyond. There is some uncertainty there. The medical staff will handle that; they will let me know when they get more information.

Australia started the second innings by batting Travis Head in place of Warner. The left-hander is anticipated to keep the position in the event Warner is not selected after impressing with a counterattacking 43. If Dave isn’t accessible, it makes perfect sense, said McDonald. “We did talk about before coming over here that Trav would be one we’d try to put up there if we lost an opening batter. We believe that he can start off quickly like he did in the subcontinental conditions.

We do not consider [Head] to be an opener under all circumstances; in some circumstances, he is back in the middle order.

All-rounder Cameron Green, who came very close to playing in the Delhi Test as well, will be 100% fit to play in Indore, according to McDonald.

He was nearby, according to McDonald. “It focuses on boosting self-assurance. He suffered a minor setback while batting in Bangalore, where there was some jarring and some discomfort in that finger. I believe the second Test was valid if he didn’t have that. But, it was probably only put off for those few days.

We even thought about substituting him for concussions. That led to another conversation. But if he wasn’t ready to go at the beginning, what difference did a few days make? We would be better off mentally prepared and loaded up for the third Test match.”
