After a few years in which he was unable to score many runs, Virat Kohli is once again among the run scorers in the white ball formats. Kohli has been doing well in limited overs cricket since the 2022 Asia Cup. The Test format, on the other hand, does not fit this description. In his last 13 Test innings, he has failed to reach the fifty-run mark. His current Border-Gavaskar Trophy scores are 44, 20 and 12. The former captain of the Indian cricket team scored his last Test century against Bangladesh in November of this year. This feature was recently emphasised by Iceland Cricket in a tweet.
The fact that Virat Kohli hasn’t scored a century in 23 Tests—since his century in 2019—won’t sit well with many of our Indian fans. How much time is too much?Cricket posted the tweet from Iceland.
Recently, Kohli achieved another significant career milestone by becoming the player to reach 25,000 runs in international cricket the fastest. On Day 3 of the second Test match in New Delhi against Australia, he did so. In doing so, Kohli eclipsed his idol and the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, who had reached the record in 577 games. In contrast, Virat accomplished it in 549 games. Virat and Sachin are followed by Ricky Ponting (588), Jacques Kallis (594), Kumar Sangakkara (608) and Mahela Jayawardene (608), among others (701).
