The third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 began with a unique conversation between Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne, who is currently ranked as the world’s best Test batter.
Australia rebounded with a roar as they easily won the third Test by nine wickets to record their first victory of the four-match series after losing the first two Tests by significant margins. They totally outperformed India with both the bat and the ball to cut the deficit to 1-2.
After a stunning triumph, Labuschagne talked about a conversation he had with Rohit Sharma before the third Test started. Labuschagne disclosed that when the Indian skipper stated his desire, they just so happened to be walking together.to learn from Sharma the strategies for playing in the unfamiliar Indian conditions that Labuschagne and his team mates were facing.
As Rohit and I were out walking, I said. I told her, “I’m observing everything you do because I want to learn. The best people in these circumstances are you guys. These conditions are alien to us. You can learn from the opponents and how they approach a situation. The 28-year-old spoke to the Star Sports announcers and said, “We aim to learn and progress with each game.
The right-handed batter claimed that he approached Rohit Sharma and directly questioned him about all the finer points and unique tactics the Indian squad used to make them virtually invincible against rank-turners.He believed it was crucial to have an open dialogue with those who were flourishing in it because such circumstances were so foreign to them. There was no wrong in picking up tips from the competition, and learning is always the key to winning.
We took the effort to reflect and fix our errors: Labuschagne
He continued by saying that following their first two defeats, the Australian team used the lengthy pause to reflect carefully and correct their faults. They were greatly assisted by this in playing the third Test with a lot of confidence and taking things easy, which helped them win.
We must keep learning in order to ensure that the first and second tests are fair.all distinctive. We must never stop learning. When asked about the adjustments they made before the third Test, Labuschagne said that everyone simply went over their alternatives, plans, and strategies again.
He further stated that the players sought to build their confidence on their defence, which they were unwilling to abandon. He added that he had to approach the series differently because he had been missing such open shots.
Personally, I have used four or five different batting techniques. I entered the room and swept. Yet, I believe that as the series continued, I stopped receiving those free shots that I had at the beginning.I didn’t get those complimentary shots like I got at the beginning of the series. We just said that we must have more faith in our defence. Steve got a really terrific ball, one that simply spun and got the edge, and we’re all going to do well. Yet, we have to continue to put our defence first. The game will get more interesting once we calm down, he continued.
