“Indian Batters Have Been Disappointing,” Says Ex-Pakistani Cricketer

Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan cricket team spinner, slammed Indian batters after the hosts were thrashed for 109 in the first innings of the third Test against Australia. The Indore pitch favoured Nathan Lyon and Matthew Kuhnemann’s spin combination, which took the most of the wickets. Only Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are expected to score more than 20 runs for India. Kaneria stated that the batsmen performed poorly and that Rishabh Pant would have handled the two spinners better.

If you asked Rishabh Pant how to bat against spinners, he would tell you to use your feet, go to the pitch of the ball, and smash the ball a long way. If he had been present, he would not have spared Lyon and Kuhnemann. He would have forced them to change their lengths if he had attacked them. In his YouTube channel, Kaneria remarked that Indian batters had been lacklustre.

The former Pakistan spinner alleged in the video that Indian batters took too many excessive chances against the spin combo, resulting in quick wickets. The match was equally matched, however Kaneria stated that Australia has a “80 percent probability” of prevailing.

“India could have scored 250-300 points if they had batted efficiently in their first innings. Yet, their unnecessary stroke play has placed Australia ahead, and I feel Australia currently has an 80 percent chance of winning this game “He came to a decision.
