Unexpectedly, Aiden Markram has been selected by the SRH administration to lead the team for the 2023 IPL season. He had a tremendous SA20 for Eastern SunRisers, when the group captured their maiden championship. Aiden Markram demonstrated that he was the team’s “X” factor by scoring 369 runs and collecting 11 wickets in the SA20.
SRH hasn’t made the postseason since the 2020 campaign. They had a fantastic start to the 2022 season, but they were unable to capitalise on it. Aiden Markam’s SRH teammates and fans will be hoping that the burden of leadership has no impact on his natural attacking approach. The new head coach, Brian Lara, would be put to the test in front of all eyes.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Aiden Markram was questioned about who he would pick as his deputy, Mayank Agarwal or Bhuveneshwar Kumar.
That’s a challenging one. I had Mayank as my coach with the Kings. I got along really well with him. Furthermore, someone with Bhuvi’s degree of skill is almost irreplaceable. It would thus be difficult to choose one at this time, but I am certain that both of them would be successful, said Aiden Markram.
Home and away stadiums will once more be utilised in the IPL in 2023, and SRH will be hoping that the team can fully use home advantage. Frequent lineup changes disturb the team’s chemistry, hence SRH should stick with Aiden Markram. Although SRH has a strong bowling team, the batsmen struggle at crucial times in the game.
All eyes will be on Harry Brook because this would be his debut IPL season. The right-handed hitter has been a force to be reckoned with in all three iterations of the game. The absence of England players from the tournament’s latter rounds, according to insiders, will be a major blow for SRH.
