The sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which kicks off on March 31st, was given a start date by the BCCI on February 17. The 1000th match of the premier league between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), two of the most successful teams, will mark a historic moment in the upcoming season.
The historic match between the two bitter rivals is scheduled to take place on May 6 at Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Several jaw-dropping encounters have taken place since the league’s start in 2008, many of which have earned recognition as some of the greatest contests in cricket history. In addition, Chennai and Mumbai, who have won five andfour titles, respectively, will further heighten the anticipation for the tournament’s 1000th game.
The league will be contested in as many as 12 locations for the 16th season, which includes a few games in Guwahati and Dharamsala. The league was formerly staged in Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
The proceedings will begin on March 31 with the defending champions.
On March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai team takes face the reigning champion Gujarat Titans. All teams will play seven home games and an equal number of away games in the league phase prior to the play-offs, which marks the third year that the conventional home in use.
18 doubleheaders are also played in the league.Matches in the afternoon begin at 3:30 PM IST, and games in the evening begin at 7:30 PM. On May 28, the championship match of the lucrative T20 competition will be played.
The BCCI has not yet officially announced the play-off dates or locations for the pricey tournament. The defending champion Gujarat Titans, who made their debut last season, will aim to increase their collection of championships. Mumbai and Chennai, who had a rough time in the last edition, will attempt to reverse the tables and reclaim their former glory.
