IPL 2023: GT, CSK to start on March 31

The reigning champion Gujarat Titans will face the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the IPL 2023 on March 31 in Ahmedabad. The 16th season of the sport will begin five days after the first WPL concludes.

A doubleheader will be played on April 1 immediately after the first game, with Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals playing first, followed by Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians in their respective season-opening games on April 2.

May marks the conclusion of the league phase.

There will be 70 games played on November 21—18 of them doubleheaders. The ten teams are scheduled to compete.With the tournament’s well-known home and away format, there will be seven home games and seven away games. The league stage will take place in 12 different cities, with two home matches for the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in Dharamshala and Guwahati, respectively.

The competition as a whole last took place in its traditional home-and-away format in 2019. The 2021 edition in India had to be abruptly terminated due to Covid-19, and the second half of the season was once again held in the UAE. The UAE hosted the whole 2020 edition. while the IPL is in play Last year, when the competition was held in India, it could only be played in a few specific cities, with Mumbai and Pune serving as the host cities for the whole league stage.
