IPL 2023: Says Aiden Markram on his expectations for Sunrisers Hyderabad

As he prepares to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which is set to begin on March 31, the exceptional South African all-rounder Aiden Markram is preparing to take on a new task. Given that Aiden Markram has only been associated with the franchise for a year, it will be interesting to see if he can rescue it this time.

The Sunrisers had a terrible season last year under Kane Williamson’s leadership, finishing in ninth place with six wins and eight defeats. As a result, Williamson was cut by the team before of this year’s auction. Williamson’s resignation opened the door for Markram to succeed him.

A member of the Punjab Kings for the 2021 Indian Premier League season was Aiden Markram. However at the 2022 Players Auction, he was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 2.60 crores.

In 2022, Aiden Markram played 14 games for the Orange Army and excelled, scoring 381 runs at an exceptional average of 47.63, including three half-centuries. One of his standout performances came in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, when his unbeaten inning of 68 guided the Sunrisers to a resounding 7-wicket victory.

The South African all-rounder, speaking about leading Sunrisers Hyderabad, believes the team may thrive if its teammates rise to the occasion.

The Sunrisers have an excellent squad of players, some of them have strong personalities. I’m eager to see those guys use their experience and step up when required.

Aiden Markram is in outstanding form right now, having just led the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, a sister team, to victory in the maiden SA20 competition held in Johannesburg. Due to his exceptional performance during the contest, Markram was named Player of the Tournament.
