
On Tuesday (February 14), Chetan Sharma, the chairman of selectors for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), came under fire for allegedly disclosing top-secret selection practises during a sting operation.
Following his dismissal as chair following India’s performance in the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022, Sharma was recently re-elected by the BCCI. During the sting operation, Sharma was seen casting doubt on former India captain Virat Kohli and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
Sharma is also alleged to have revealed details of his private chats with Kohli and head coach Rahul Dravid during the Zee News undercover operation. According to reports, the BCCI is looking into national selectors because their contractsprohibit them from talking to the media. According to recent information, BCCI secretary Jay Shah will shortly make a decision regarding Chetan Sharma’s future.
Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, will decide what Chetan’s future holds. A senior BCCI official was quoted by Zee as stating, The question is whether T20 captain Hardik Pandya or ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma would wish to sit with Chetan in a selection meeting knowing that he has let out inside discussions.
