‘Lowest Time’ Of His Career: Veteran Pacer Recalls ‘MS Dhoni Came To My Room And Said’

Ishant Sharma was capable of winning games by himself at the height of his abilities. Ishant has excelled in the teams he has played for over the years. But Ishant has also experienced his fair share of ups and downs in his professional cricket career. Ishant recounted how he handled the “lowest period of his career” in 2013 when recounting the tale of one such event. MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan were among those who assisted the lanky pacer in rising above a “ultimate low.”

My lowest point was during the Australia game in Mohali in 2013. I doubt that I would ever experience a worse moment than that because I was… I’m not sure. For me, it was quite difficult. Furthermore, it wasn’t as a result of my numerous run giveaways. The fact that I was to blame for the team’s defeat was what stung me the most. At the time, I was dating my wife, and after speaking to her, I believe I just sobbed for close to a month. I used to cry and scream on the phone to her that the team had lost because of me “On the “Rise of New India” programme on Cricbuzz, he stated.

Ishant described how Dhoni and Dhawan visited him in his room and encouraged him. But, the pacer acknowledged that everyone now believes he isn’t a decent white-ball bowler as a result of the game.

There is an impression that I am not a white-ball bowler as a consequence of just one game, he added. Shikhar (Dhawan), who was playing that game, and Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), both came to my room and said, Look you have been doing well (Dekh, tu acha khel raha hai),

Ishant last competed for India in 2016, and since then, he has not been given a chance to be picked in any of the three formats.
