LSG Team 2024 Player List

Lucknow Super Giants made an important acquisition in the 2024 IPL auction by securing Shivam Mavi for Rs 6.4 crore. After initially being involved in a bidding war with RCB, LSG emerged victorious in signing the bowler for a staggering sum. Mavi, who was previously associated with Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans, brings valuable experience to the team.

Additionally, LSG added promising uncapped Indian batsman Arshin Kulkarni at his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Kulkarni, who is currently playing for Team India Under-19, displayed impressive skills in the recently concluded Maharashtra Premier League. He is known for his all-round abilities and rare skill of seam bowling.

LSG made additional signings, securing M Siddhartha for Rs 2.40 crore. Left-arm spinner Siddharth found recognition in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and was previously associated with KKR and Chennai Super Kings. The Lucknow-based franchise strengthened its squad by purchasing all-rounders Ashton Turner (Australia) and David Willey (England) for Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively.

Ahead of the auction in Dubai on December 19, LSG released eight players, leaving them with a purse limit of Rs 13.15 crore to fill six vacant spots. Of the 18 players retained, 12 are Indians and six are overseas players, which include notable names like KL Rahul, Krunal Pandya, Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Naveen Ul Haq and Mark Wood. The players released include Jaydev Unadkat, Manan Vohra, Swapnil Singh, Karan Sharma, Arpit Guleria, Suryansh Shedge, Karun Nair and Daniel Sams.

Earlier, LSG traded top-order left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals (RR), adding to their batting depth. The 23-year-old, bought by RR for Rs 7.75 crore, has featured in 57 IPL matches, scoring 1521 runs with one century and nine half-centuries. The Kerala-born batsman moved to LSG in exchange for his current fee. Additionally, LSG made a trade by sending Avesh Khan and Romario Shepherd to RR and MI respectively.

Established in 2021, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have competed in two Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons, finishing in the top four in both. During the 2022 season, the franchise finished third in the group stage, advancing to the playoffs. They faced Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator match and ended their journey here.

Meanwhile, the 2023 season saw a similar result, with LSG again finishing third and this time losing to five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the eliminator. After securing consecutive playoff berths in their two IPL seasons, LSG is set to elevate their position in the points table during the upcoming 2024 season, and set their sights on capturing the inaugural title in the lucrative league.
