India have made a great start to 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka and New Zealand in T20s at home and winning four series one after the other in ODIs. The Men in Blue claimed memorable victories by defeating both the sides 3-0 in the ODI series under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and 2-1 in the T20I series under Hardik Pandya’s leadership.
Apart from veteran players, talented players like Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammad Siraj contributed significantly to India’s brilliant performance. Gill has shown glimpses of opening talent with record-breaking innings in both ODIs and T20Is, while Suryakumar continues to shine with his brilliant strokeplay.
However, Siraj’s quick development in ODIs has been quite impressive, as most of his notable achievements early in his India career came in red-ball cricket. In the first clip, Ashwin asks Siraj in Tamil, “No.1 ODI bowler, yeppadi da irukai, yeppadi da feel pannarai?” to which Siraj replies in his mother tongue. On how he felt after becoming the bowler, Siraj said:
“Feels great, never thought I would be the No.1 bowler. it’s a good feeling
