NZ vs ENG: Joe Root played reverse scoop

Former England captain Joe Root played the reverse scoop in the first Test between New Zealand and England at Bay Oval. He rarely tries to play this shot in the longest version of the game. The cricketer, though, did a fantastic job on his first try, and the pundits were really impressed with his performance. He was practising this in the summer of last year, and this shot was also seen being played by him during the first ILT20 season.

Even though he was successful on his first attempt, he was unsuccessful when attempting to connect on the second. This time, speedster Neil Wagner defeated him thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s outstanding catch in the second slip.Redirect Root to the changing area. The 32-year-innings old’s were brief because he only managed to score 14 runs off 22 pitches.

England’s first Test match against New Zealand got off to the best possible start thanks to opener Ben Duckett. The 28-year-old rose to the occasion after losing his partner (Zak Crawley) very early and played a brilliant innings of 84 runs off 68 deliveries. Ollie Pope gave him excellent support, but at age 42, he was fired.

While Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes fell short, Harry Brook once again stepped up to the plate to help England register a respectable total. Before Wagner removed him, the 23-year-old had just reached his second half-century in red-ball cricket, scoring 89 runs off 81 balls, and he was looking in excellent form.
