PCB: Pakistan to host Asia Cup 2023

In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed that India’s matches during the 2023 Asia Cup might be hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On February 16, the PCB convened a conference to discuss how to hold the big tournament in Pakistan.

When asked whether Pakistan will host the 2023 Asia Cup following the most recent meeting at PCB headquarters, PCB CEO Najam Sethi responded that there is still no decision.

But according to recent rumours, Pakistan is set to host the competition, and all of India’s matches will be played there.take place in the UAE. The final will also take place in the UAE if the Indian team advances to the final.

Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), announced last year that the Indian squad will not going to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. His comments sparked a lot of debate and widened the gap between the two cricket bodies.

The PCB is considering all options, though, as they are eager to hold the tournament at whatever cost. Jay Shah and PCB Chief Najam Sethi recently went to an emergency ACC meeting in Bahrain to talk about the hostingissue. However, there were reports that the officials had not brought any convincing circumstances with them. According to recent rumours, the choice of a host country has been postponed till the end of March.

A few reports also claimed that Sethi informed Shah that Pakistan would not travel to India for the 2023 World Cup if India skipped the Asia Cup during the same meeting. In reaction, a senior BCCI official indicated that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the event and it will be transferred to another country.
