Pooja Vastrakar will be fielded in place of Sneh Rana in the quarter-finals of the India-Australia Women's T20 World Cup.

Pooja Vastrakar’s illness has caused her to be ruled out of Thursday’s Women’s T20 World Cup semifinal match against Australia in Cape Town, which might be a significant loss for the Indian team. The Event Technical Committee has given Sneh Rana the go-ahead to replace Vastrakar. Vastrakar was eliminated from the competition because of an upper respiratory infection.

There were rumours that India captain Harmanpreet Kaur wouldn’t be able to lead the team in the semifinal, but that isn’t expected to be the case.

India has only made it to the final once in seven editions of the competition, whereas Australia has won it five times.

India and Australia squared off in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final in Melbourne. The home team won with a total of 85 runs.

India has lost all 11 of its games vs Australia.

With one loss and three triumphs, the India women’s cricket team finished second in their group, while Australia won all four of its games. India’s lone match was lost to England; South Africa will play England in the second semifinal on Friday.
