Sachin Tendulkar: Celebrated 51st birthday

Sachin Tendulkar, the ‘God of Cricket’ and one of the greatest batsmen of all time, was 51 today. He helped to mould the future of cricket in India. Tendulkar was the inspiration who, more than anyone else, won over cricket fans’ hearts and minds.

He broke almost all records during his career, established new benchmarks, and ruled the world of international cricket for almost twenty years. He is the first player in history to score 100 centuries for his country.

Unprecedented Records: In Tests, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and international cricket as a whole, Sachin has scored the most runs. With 18,426 runs in ODIs, he was the third highest scorer after Virat Kohli (13,848) and Kumar Sangakkara (14,234).

Joe Root’s name is prominent among current players who are nearing Tendulkar’s records. In Test cricket, he has amassed 11,736 runs, compared to Tendulkar’s 15,921 runs.

Tendulkar is top of the list with 34,357 runs in international cricket, followed by Mahela Jayawardene (25,957), Virat Kohli (26,733), Kumar Sangakkara (28,016), and Ricky Ponting (27,483).

Most hundreds in Tests and Internationals: Sachin continues to hold the record with 51 Test hundreds. His 100 hundreds in international cricket are surpassed by Jacques Kallis of South Africa (62), Australia’s Ricky Ponting (71), Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (63), and another great batter from India, Virat Kohli (80).

Best Against the Best: Tendulkar’s supremacy in Test and ODI cricket is demonstrated by a few of his performances. When he played a fighting century at W.A.C.A. in 1992, he first shown greatness. In 1998, he amassed two century in Sharjah and an incredible 155 in the Chennai Test. Australia was the best side of his day, and he always enjoyed playing against the best. He put up fantastic performances against them. He averaged 44.59 in 70 ODIs and 55.30 in 39 Test matches while scoring 3077 runs in 70 ODIs against Australia. Tendulkar amassed 2278 runs in 44 World Cup games, including six hundreds. In World Cup matches, he has scored more runs than any other batsman.
