At the World Cup 2023 media presentation, Pakistan’s top all-rounder Shadab Khan added a dash of Bollywood glitz that won over hearts on both sides of the border. Shadab Khan, a cricketer from Pakistan who is renowned for both his on- and off-the-field personas, made a reference to the classic Bollywood film “Singham” when the Pakistan cricket team arrived in India for the eagerly anticipated competition. Shadab Khan couldn’t help but notice a police officer in the room at the team’s first official press conference in Hyderabad.

The allusion was to the well-known Bollywood superhero Bajirao Singham, played by Ajay Devgn and noted for his daring demeanour. The humorous comment made by Shadab Khan brought levity to the proceedings and demonstrated the friendship between the Pakistani players and their Indian hosts. Shadab and his teammates were surprised by the friendly greeting they received at the airport in Hyderabad and the jubilant reception they received from fans at the team hotel.

Furthermore, Rohit Sharma, the skipper and opener for Team India, was praised without reservation by the vice captain of Pakistan. The leg spinner acknowledged during the conversation that it can be quite challenging to contain the Hitman when he is in the zone. Rohit Sharma just becomes unstoppable and dangerous once the opposition gives him some time at the crease. Additionally, he made sure to mention Kuldeep Yadav among the spinners, claiming that the erratic left-arm wrist spinner is the most dangerous bowler before the 2023 ODI World Cup.
