Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United by 110 runs on Monday, February 27, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore during the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023. Rashid Khan, the Qalandars’ spinner, praised Shaheen Afridi for his leadership throughout the current PSL season.
Now, the left-arm bowler is pushing the Lahore Qalandars to the top of the PSL points rankings. Lahore has won four out of the first five games in the series. Shaheen Afridi led his side to their first PSL championship during the previous season, his first as the league’s captain.
According to Rashid Khan in an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi manages the team excellently and fosters a great environment. The 24-year-old said that Afridi is calmer this year than he was the previous one and that the younger players aren’t hesitant to ask him anything.
As a player and bowler, you feel at ease having a captain like Shaheen because of how effectively he oversees everything for the team. Rashid Khan said that when a player is having trouble, he guides them to perfection and never loses his composure.
Rashid Khan further asserts that Shaheen Afridi’s pace assault, which also featured Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan, will put more strain on the adversaries.
Having bowlers like Shaheen and Haris on your squad automatically reduces pressure and responsibility. You feel at ease as a spinner because all three of our spinners, especially third bowler Zaman Khan, contribute significantly and take two to three wickets.
Rashid Khan declared: “Even if spin bowling occasionally concedes runs, Shaheen and Haris also bowl “death overs” to put pressure on the other team, thus it is okay.
