Sri Lankan women cricketers: Fee hiked

The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket has made a significant decision to raise the match payments for Sri Lankan women cricketers from the existing level of US$250 to US$750 starting in 2023.

The move is a result of the board’s ongoing efforts to empower women who play cricket and improve the national game as a whole.

At a meeting on January 31, 2023, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket resolved to increase the match fees for the National Women’s Players for the 2023 season. As a result, Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement that match payments for both forms of white-ball cricket have raised from USD 250 to USD 750 each match, per player.the 14th of February 2023 press release.

Sri Lanka Cricket stated in a statement that it wanted to achieve parity and equity between its male and female cricketers, and what better way to do it than to try and do it financially, since the female cricketers will undoubtedly be able to accomplish their great dreams on the international stage. Additionally, with financial security, there would be a deliberate effort to support Sri Lankan women cricketers in their endeavours.

To further celebrate the announcement, Sri Lanka Cricket announced in a press release that the board would award each player with a winning bonus for every single match the team wins, whether in bilateral or international events.of USD 250.
