In India, cricket is a popular sport followed by millions of people. Women’s cricket here has struggled to enjoy the same recognition and funding as men’s cricket.
In recent years, the BCCI has made vigorous efforts to bring women’s cricket at par with its men’s cricket.
Last year, the cricket board announced the women’s edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the world’s biggest T20 franchise competition, describing it as a “transformative” game for the women’s game.

India first bowled out England for 68 runs in 17.1 overs and then chased down the target in 14 overs to clinch the trophy.
