Will Never Forget: Indian Cricket Fans Compare Harmanpreet Kaur’s World Cup 2019 Run Out to MS Dhoni’s

India lost to Australia in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup first semi-final despite coming agonisingly close. India’s final score of 167 for eight as compared to Australia’s 172 for four gave Australia a five-run victory. In the final on Sunday, Australia will either take against England or South Africa. After losing three wickets in the six-over power play, India batted aggressively from the first ball and for the majority of the innings, they were ahead of Australia’s total at the equivalent stage.

As India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was run out with just 40 runs needed off 32 balls, the game took a dramatic turn.

Kaur batted beautifully, reaching 52 runs off 34 balls. Her bat jabbed into the ground just beyond the crease after she hammered a ball to deep midwicket and appeared to be on her way to scoring a comfortable two runs. Kaur walked away while furiously swinging her bat. India was ultimately set back by that dismissal.

On social media, Indian cricket fans compared the runout MS Dhoni received in the 2019 World Cup semifinal match against New Zealand. India was unable to successfully chase down a 240-run mark after Dhoni was run out in the 49th over. The two runs out occurred in the semifinal.

These two run-outs demonstrated how narrow the margins are in cricket.
