On Monday, February 13, in Mumbai, the eagerly awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 auction began. Prior to the WPL’s debut season, all five of the franchises assembled their teams through the auction.
Teams have done a decent job of bolstering their squads for the upcoming season after witnessing the glamour and glamour of the event replete with drama and action off the field. Shafali Verma, the captain of the India U19 World Cup winning team, will play for the Delhi Capitals after being acquired for INR 2.00 crore, making her the second most expensive player in their squad behind Jemimah Rodrigues.Despite their significant expertise and great exploits, many high-profile cricketers failed to attract much interest, while a select few players quickly attracted notice and ignited a bidding war. Famous players like Alana King, Suzie Bates, and Kim Garth, among others, failed to pique the interest of the franchisees.
Fans have undoubtedly enjoyed themselves immensely thanks to what happened on Monday in the auction arena. It would be intriguing to see how events play out in the lucrative T20 competition with players from all over the world working together for a shared goal.
