Former India cricketer Lakshmipathy Balaji has spoken on the depth of the bowling options of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK got IPL 2024 off to a good start with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Their next match will be against Gujarat Titans in Chennai on 26th March.
Despite the performance of CSK batsmen, the bowlers performed excellently in the first innings. And were able to restrict RCB to a reasonable score. Bangladesh’s fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was the hero of the match. Who took four wickets. Mustafizur Rahman efforts in his debut for Chennai were praised by former CSK bowler Balaji.
It was unprecedented for a new player like Mustafizur to perform in his very first game. But Pathirana provided the cushion that CSK had wanted for a long time. Especially after Bravo because Bravo used to provide that cushion to CSK during the death overs.

Mathisha Pathirana fit straight into that role and it probably depends on that. How well the new ball bowlers bowl. Perhaps Pathirana may have to wait. Because Mustafizur can bowl in the death and opening overs also.
